2017年8月28日，中国当代水墨艺术市场现状迎来新的变革，“中国当代水墨年鉴2016-2017”项目正式启动。该项目包括“中国当代水墨年鉴展（2016-2017）”、“中国当代水墨年鉴（2016-2017）主题展”和《中国当 contemporary watercolor art. The exhibition will showcase the works of 80 contemporary watercolor artists, presenting a comprehensive picture of the current state of watercolor art in China.
The project aims to record and present the development of contemporary Chinese watercolor through "book + exhibition" format. It invites innovative and exploratory contemporary Chinese watercolor artists to participate, providing an overview of the new face of contemporary Chinese watercolor.
The book records individual artists' annual exhibition history, latest works, etc., while the exhibition displays these information with artistic individuals as narrative units for visitors. This event is not intended to define academically or enter into art history nor typecast artists; instead it seeks to objectively present the current state of contemporary Chinese watercolor.
